Everdene

Everdene

My debut novel was Everdene, based on a classic from English Literature (but not mash-ups of the public domain work – all the words are new). This novel used the ‘bare-bones’ of a classic novel’s plot and character’s traits and brings them into a contemporary environment, spiced up, and with deleted bits that are no longer relevant to modern day, or additional bits. The aim being to provide my adult readers with contemporary romance novels, while encouraging reading of the original classics to then compare them (great for book club discussions). The novel is for adults, so if you are over 18, you can see more information on Amazon.
Nicknamed the ‘Icy Bitch’, Catherine Everdene is an independent career woman who wins over boardrooms using her flirtatious sparkle. Used to being in control, that all changes when she encounters Dillon Oak in the London office. Her seduction of his mind goes astray when he begins to penetrate the cracks in her closely-guarded heart, and she escapes to New York, where her complicated love life really starts to get messy. Her dominating and mischievous behaviour captures the attention of Bill Boldwood, an obsessive CEO with a secret and charming, but manipulative, alpha-male lawyer, Troy Selgent. Who will eventually win her heart? More to the point, who will survive to win her heart? Set in modern day London, New York and the Dorset countryside, Everdene is based on Thomas Hardy’s original love story, Far from the Madding Crowd. A classic romance, re-told with Hardy’s original intent to be more risqué, Everdene is an emotional journey of love, heartbreak, death and friendship. Ideal reading for fans of classic literature as well as contemporary ‘Fifty Shades’ type novels.
